Today’s review features Strike Gold Shave ([ Ссылка ]), an artisan specializing in honing, brush restoration, straight razor sales and shaving soap. Their shaving soap is produced exclusively for them by the proprietor of the now discontinued, Mason Boutique ([ Ссылка ]). The soap line is named after former United States Presidents. Each soap is named for a particular President, in this case, Richard Nixon, the 37th President of the United States.
Nixon is a gourmand scent. The scent is specifically modeled after limoncello, a popular Italian post dinner liquor aimed to help digestion. The scent is citrusy and sweet, but not cloyingly sweet, just enough to not be a tart citrus scent. Having never smelled limoncello, this scent reminds me a lot of a creamsicle. The scent is mid, both out of the container and throughout the shave. Similar scents in the artisan space are: Chiseled Face Groomatorium Orange Creamsicle or The Holy Black Ramos Gin Fizz.
Strike Gold Shave’s soap base is a vegan soap base. As mentioned earlier, the soap is produced by Jennifer Marting, of the now defunct Mason Boutique. The soap base ingredients are listed as: Stearic Acid, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Water, Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Fragrance. This is a very standard vegan soap base and the performance of the soap compares well with bases of similar ingredient profiles. The soap is easy to load and lather. It is not overly thirsty nor is it overly tolerant to water. The dialed in lather provides a fluffy lather with average cushion and lather density. The slickness is protective but again, only average. Post shave is good, and is the best attribute in terms of performance. For a similar experience in terms of performance, I recommend: The Artisan Soap Shoppe or Van Yulay.
