Wow it's been just over 1 year since my total knee replacement. I've had three previous surgeries; an ACL from football, and two arthroscopic surgeries from beach volleyball. The scopes were for torn meniscus. After all these surgeries and 30 years of being very active a vast amount of osteoarthritis had built up.
I've started running again! I never thought I'd be able to run again and it's amazing I've gotten this far. I don't want to run a lot. Once a week or so, and to be prepared in case of Zombie Apocalypse.

I must say my surgeon says to never run. Not because I'll re-injure it, but because running will wear out the knee faster. It's supposed to last 30 years. That could be shortened by running. However, in some studies I've seen running does not appreciably wear it out that much more than every day use. And I'm not running that often or that far.
Before surgery I could no longer run, use the elliptical, do certain exercises and even biking bothered the knee. The goal is to use this series to show people the recovery and rehab that it takes to hopefully get back to running and be able to do the athletic things I like to do. #running #rehab #injury
