4 more notes for making homemade vanilla extract! 👇️
I stopped buying store bought vanilla extract a few years ago because it’s just SO easy to make at home.
1. You should use four vanilla beans per cup of liquor.
2. You really don’t have to use super high quality alcohol. I know that I used a pretty nice brand, but this bottle has sat untouched for almost a year.
We’re normally gifted alcohol during the holiday season, but we’re not big drinkers. So we cherish the gifts in other ways. 🥰
3. Ideally this should infuse for 4-6 months. Once you have it going, you can keep adding more beans and alcohol so it’s always going on a rolling basis.
4. This will save SO much $$ and is such a higher quality product than what you buy at the grocery store. At the store you’re typically paying $5 per ounce, and this came out to $1.65 per ounce!
I think this is such a fun DIY and would love to know if you’d give it a try.
