5. SOUNDBITE (Serbian) Goran Rakic, President of Serbian List:
"We, political representatives of Serbs in Kosovo, as well as Serb people in Kosovo, are sending a request, appeal and demand to our President Vucic and all (Serbian) leadership - to suspend the participation of Belgrade in any other future dialogue with Pristina. We consider any further negotiations with Pristina completely illogical and also counterproductive."

7. SOUNDBITE (Serbian) Dragisa Milovic, Kosovo Serb leader from Zvecan:
"Stronger response, I am sure that none of us here are calling up on conflicts that can escalate so no one can control them. I was a mayor (Serb mayor) of Zvecan since 1999, and I was there from the beginning of the conflicts on the bridge (Mitrovica bridge in 1999), and barricades, and declaration of independence of Kosovo in 2008, and also on March 17, 2004 (when Serbs in the north were attacked by an angry Albanian mob), and I can tell you, I'm afraid now, I am afraid that those images of horror are now repeated again."

"So yesterday, it was on the edge of a real conflict, the Kosovo government has to understand that you can't build trust with citizens, Serbs in the north of Kosovo, by sending special forces and using force. The International community has to take urgent measures to prevent further escalation, because the consequences could be devastating."

STORYLINE:
Kosovo Serb leaders demanded on Saturday that Serbia suspend all negotiations with the Kosovo government.
At a news conference in North Mitrovica, Serbian List President Goran Rakic said he believed further talks with Pristina would be "completely illogical and also counterproductive."
Rakic's Serbian List are the biggest Kosovo Serb political organization in the region.
Rakic's remarks come after violent clashes a day earlier between Kosovo police and ethnic Serbs that injured more than a dozen people.
Ethnic Serbs in northern Kosovo, who are a majority in that part of the country, had tried to block recently elected ethnic Albanian officials from entering municipal buildings on Friday.
Last month’s snap local election was largely boycotted by ethnic Serbs and only ethnic Albanian or other smaller minority representatives were elected in the mayoral posts and assemblies.
In response to the clashes, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic ordered troops closer to the border with Kosovo.
