With the offical opening of the new east / west lines first stage from Oxford the night before. Chiltern Railways were first to send a train on the new route from Oxford to Milton Keynes via Bicester Village & Winslow. Completing the journey in around 45 minutes. This was just a test run. The new services to Oxford will be operated by Chiltern using hired class 196 units and will begin passenger services next year, with driver training starting in December of this year. Also GWR sent a class 800 down the new line from Oxford, again just a test run. But GWR have no plans to run services on the route, but was mainly for clearance purposes for the 80X fleet.
As well as the unsual visitors of Chiltern & GWR, this video also includes the regulars of the West Coast Mainline. Avanti West Coast Pendolinos, Voyagers and Evero. London North Western 350s and a good selection of Freight movements with various liveries of class 66s.
