The region of Costa Brava, Spain is teeming with unique cultural attractions. Our culture guide starts with the incredible ancient history and ruins in the region of Catalunya or Catalonia.
Culture in Spain dates back to medieval times with pristine examples of Romanesque art and fantastic architecture still intact. The cultural experiences available range from museums and art galleries, to pottery and handicraft workshops, to seaside restaurants and delicious Costa Brava "marisc" (seafood).
From the Salvador Dalí house & Dali museum to local wine & produce delivered directly to your table, the cultural side of Costa Brava awaits.
We stayed at the Sant Pol Campground in the city of Sant Feliu de Guixols, which city centre is within walking distance.
There is a good reason why quite a lot of the Game of Thrones episodes were filmed in Girona & the surrounding region. Be sure to spend some time exploring the city, and don't forget to visit the German Gardens. You should call in at the Medieval village of Peratallada.
There are also a couple of nice cafes and restaurants, hidden in the little alleys. Tip, rent a bicycle and visit 2-3 of the old villages by bike tour. The region is also known for its handmade pottery. A great town to see this handicraft & buy traditional pottery is Bisbal d' Emorda.
Of course, no trip to the Costa Brava is complete without finding out more about Dali. Right next to the beautiful seaside town of Cadaques, you'll find Portlligat, where you will find Dali's house, which today is a museum.
