The Seiko SRPD79K1 is likely one of my favorite iterations of the Seiko 5 Sports diver style simply due to its all-black or "murdered out" theme.

01:16 Case Dimensions & Details
This Seiko black diver has what I'm calling a PVD-coated case; Seiko officially refers to this coating as a "black hard coating" though the process for applying it is not specified. As far as dimensions go, the case has:
- 42.5mm diameter
- 46mm from lug to lug
- 13.4mm thick
- Strap size (between the lugs) is 22mm

The blackout theme of this Seiko dive watch makes it a flexible platform for different strap styles.

02:20 Black PVD Case & Diver's Bezel
While the case has the traditional Seiko diver profile with a crown and crown guards at 4 o'clock, it does not possess the dual finish that most Seiko SRPD watches do. In fact, it has a black matte finish throughout. In contrast, the caseback appears to be sandblasted steel.

The bezel is a traditional unidirectional diver's bezel, also in the matte black finish, with a black metallic insert. The diver's scale is in a dark grey color that maintains the dark theme while still allowing a bit of contrast for visibility.

05:00 Watch Face & Crystal
This SBSA025 (SRPD79) has a Seiko Hardlex crystal that is scratch-resistant. The dial of the watch is in a matching black tone with applied hour indices. The indices as well as the center hands are in a dark gray tone and have dark gey fills. While the fills appear at first to be luminous, they do not shine in the dark.

In the video, I point out how the center hands have an appealing brushed finish that shines beautifully in the light and aids greatly in reading the time.

The day-date window at 3 o'clock possesses white font on a black background. This being the Made in Japan model, it has English and Japanese as the day languages. Additionally, Saturday and Sunday are in blue and red tones, respectively.

07:39 Black Seiko NATO Strap
This SBSA025 is equipped with a black NATO/fabric strap that has matching black-coated hardware and a tang buckle. The metal elements are sewed into the strap, giving the strap an overall robust feel.

08:05 Seiko 4R36 Self-winding Movement
Through the sapphire caseback we can see the automating Seiko 4R36 movement that powers this SBSA025. It boasts a 41-hour power reserve, hacking/stop-seconds function, the ability to wind through the crown, and +45/-35 seconds/day accuracy. Additionally, the movement is nicely finished and this can be admired through the new crystal caseback.
