The name Halasana is derived from the Sanskrit word “Hala” which means plough. Asana is, on the other hand, means posture. Halasana is the posture in which the body takes the shape of a plow. The benefits and the steps of halasana yoga are as follows.
Steps of Halasana
1. Lie on your back in the position of Shavasana where the legs are joined together and the whole body is relaxed
2. While breathing normally keep the palm facing the ground
3. While putting pressure on the palm raise the legs and bend it straight. This is the posture of ardha halasana. This is posture can also be considered as the halasana for beginners
4. To advance in the posture the legs needs to be bent further while trying to touch the ground
5. The yogi should rest in the position for 1 to 2 minutes
6. The posture should be released slowly to the position of Shavasana and the body is to be bought back to the resting position.
