Chief Justice David Maraga has defended the judiciary over claims that it was encroaching on powers of parliament and impeding its work.
The defence comes after a terse statement by the speaker of the national assembly which criticised a high court injunction stopping investigations into the conduct of Auditor general Edward Ouko. The chief justice insists that it is the constitutional duty of judges to intervene whenever the rights of an individual have been infringed on.
