BMW ruled premier-class GP racing in the late 1930s, winning the 1938 500cc European Championship (the precursor of the World Championship) with its supercharged R255 boxer twin.
Earlier this year, BMW Motorrad engineers completed this perfect recreation of the bike that was ridden to victory in the 1939 Isle of Man Senior TT by Georg Meier.
