The Deccan Queen or Deccan Queen Express, is an Indian passenger train that connects the two largest cities of the Indian state of Maharashtra, i.e. Mumbai and Pune. The service was named as Deccan Queen after the nickname for Pune: Queen of the Deccan.
Deccan Queen is currently the fastest train service linking Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Pune Station. It has an average operating speed of 58 km/h (36 mph) including stops, and a top speed of 105 km/h (65 mph), making it among the fastest trains in India.
Deccan Queen service was introduced on 1 June 1930 as a weekend train during the days of the British raj to ferry rich patrons -fans from Mumbai to Pune to attend horse racing at Pune Race Course. It is one of the longest running train service on the Indian Railways to have never run on steam power. From the beginning, the Deccan Queen has been run using electric locomotives.
The Deccan Queen has several firsts or 'among the firsts' to her credit: she was India's first superfast train, she was the first long distance electric hauled passenger train, she was one of India's first vestibuled trains. The Deccan Queen was the first to have a Ladies Only car, and amongst the first to feature a diner. The Deccan Queen got a brand new rake in 1966, consisting of Indian Railways standard integral anti telescopic cars. For the first time since the history of the train, third class (now second class) passengers were allowed to travel by this train. It had only reserved first class since inception until 1966.
Deccan Queen is the second train in India having ISO 9000 certification and a dining car. It has sixteen coaches including the engine.
The Deccan Queen is also one of the most favourite trains among railfans.

This train uses ICF coaches. This train has a dining car and is ISO certified train. This train has 17 coaches which include different classes like AC chair car, MST coaches (Monthly Season Ticket), Ladies special, Second class sitter, Reserved coaches and General Coaches.
It has been hauled end to end by a WCAM3 or WAP7 locomotive of the Kalyan (KYN) shed.

The Deccan Odyssey is a special luxury train based on the model of Palace on Wheels to boost tourism on the Maharashtra route of the Indian Railways. It is a venture of the Maharashtra Government and the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. In addition to being a train that touches tourist spots, this aims to be a complete 5-star hotel on wheels, with two restaurants and a bar, a sauna, business center and other such amenities on board. The coaches fitted with special amenities were manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai.
The train rides through the hinterlands of Maharashtra, the Western Ghats, into the Deccan Plateau as well as the Konkan regions, including Goa. It also passes through the cities of Nashik, Kolhapur and Ratnagiri within Maharashtra. En route to the capital city New Delhi, it has stops at Rajasthan at Udaipur and Jaipur. Its itinerary involves various tourist destinations of architectural as well as natural importance such as the Taj Mahal, Rann of Kutch and Madera.
The Deccan Odyssey offers accommodation in 40 deluxe cabins in 10 coaches. It also has 4 presidential suites in 2 cars, 1 Conference car with a business centre, 2 restaurants, a well-stocked bar and a spa with steam, massage, a mini gym and a parlour.
