Fall rivals summer in terms of beauty. This was a 14 mile round trip day hike to Cowlitz Park, which is located on the southeastern side of Mt. Rainier National Park. The hike took place on the last Saturday of September 2021 and within the first calendar week of Autumn. This hike includes a trailed segment of the Wonderland Trail and travel through the Cowlitz Park cross-country zone. Besides being out to enjoy the popping fall colors and bugling Elk, I also wanted to find my friend's camp stove, which he forgot at our campsite in Cowlitz Park back in late July 2021 when we passed through the region on a longer backpacking trip. Enjoy the fall splendors of Rainier's backcountry.
