Ducks Unlimited relies on people to turn its mission into reality across North America. In The Big Easy, longtime Louisiana DU leader, volunteer, and donor Mike Benge takes center stage. Benge believes in DU’s wetlands conservation mission, so much so that he’s devoted significant time and resources helping DU’s conservation goals become reality. He’s a Louisiana native, a New Orleans resident and a true wetlands conservation hero.
New Orleans, Louisiana, is known as The Big Easy, a place where the pace is a little slower and life a little more fun. Down south of New Orleans is a vast swamp and marsh network, home to wintering waterfowl and a myriad of wildlife species. This area’s population loves the land and the sporting opportunities it holds. DU volunteer and donor Mike Benge is one of those people, his family’s roots run deep in south Louisiana. His wetlands and waterfowl conservation commitments are second to none.
In DU Films latest release, The Big Easy, dedicated DU volunteer and donor Mike Benge’s story unfolds. He’s a Louisiana native, spending time with family and friends in the marsh is his favorite pastime. Benge knows the fragility of the Louisiana coast and has devoted much of his time and resources to conserving it for future generations to enjoy. If he’s taking from a resource, Benge makes certain that he gives back to it and has passed that mindset down to his children and grandchildren.
