We did it! Thank you to all of our #LitterHeroes who got involved and made the Great British Spring Clean 2019 the biggest ever clean-up!
Here are our highlights:
▹A record-breaking 563,163 volunteers joined our campaign
▹Including 175,055 school pupils for the Great Big School Clean
▹17,097 clean-ups were held across the country
▹1.1 million hours volunteered
▹957,377 bags of litter collected - equal to 4,308 tonnes and enough to fill 239,344 wheelie bins!
▹39% of litter collected was sent to be recycled
▹We were in the media 1,980 times, with a potential reach of 6,377 million people!
▹There were 36,650 mentions of #GBSpringClean, with a potential reach of 173 million people on social media
▹272 local authorities and 484 parish councils got on board
▹The campaign was mentioned in the House of Commons and the House of Lords and 89 MPs backed the campaign
▹Five #LitterHeroes received ‘Points of Light’ awards from the Prime Minister
▹93% of people agree that the Great British Spring Clean reduces the impacts of litter on wildlife and the environment
▹86% of people feel part of a national movement that is taking action to tackle litter
