WINTON TERRACE, Ohio (WKRC) - Police arrested a man they say sold drugs that caused four people to overdose, killing two of them.
Antwan Reliford is accused of selling cocaine laced with fentanyl to a group of friends in August. The four overdosed in Norwood.
"Four friends at a bar decided they wanted to get a little cocaine. They pitched in, bought a small amount of cocaine. All four overdosed; two of those people died," said Lt. Tom Fallon of the Hamilton County Heroin Coalition Task Force.
"And so we need to make sure that people understand the danger that they put themselves into when they take the drugs, because they don't know what's in the drugs," said Hamilton County Commissioner Denise Driehaus.
The Hamilton County Heroin Coalition Task Force investigated and searched Reliford's Winton Terrace home. Police ultimately caught up with Reliford in Louisville.
"We knew the fentanyl had hit the cocaine supply. We've had instances where we've had overdoses where people thought they were buying cocaine and they get fentanyl," said Fallon.
Neil says often times people enter into the Hamilton County Jail with addiction issues. He says sometimes this is the first line of defense into getting them treatment.
"And there's a network where, upon their release, the services are available for them in the community as well as they exit," he said.
Police say Reliford admitted to selling the deadly drug. Officers say the task force is committed to tracing the source of illegal drugs that hit the streets.
Reliford is currently in the Oldham County Jail.
