Another one of my days out in Redditch taking in some Worcestershire walks during lockdown. This time I have chosen the Tardebigge circular walk. This walk is a circular route around the village / hamlet of Tardebigge; which is a settlement that has been around since the 10th century.
Starting at St. Bartholomew’s church. The walk takes you down onto the Worcester and Birmingham Canal and the famous 30 rising Tardebigge locks. Unlike the Hanbury circular walk most of this route is canal side. The Tardebigge reservoir is a picturesque stopping off point for a quick brew followed by A pleasant stroll that takes you up to the queens head Bromsgrove; and should things change soon, this is as good a place as any to enjoy days out in Bromsgrove.
Once you reach Stoke pound the return trip runs adjacent to the canal through some quaint villages such as Bentley Pauncefoot; after which this walk detours across fields which is where stout boots are essential when wet. This is a well signposted Worcestershire Walk and forms part of the famous Monarchs way which I might just attempt at some point. Who knows?
Join me for a stroll of about 5.5 miles ( I didn’t measure it). It should take about 2.5/ 3hrs depending on a general pace. And if the mood takes you..... give it a go! it's one of the easier public footpath walks.
