STORYLINE:
Canadian Foreign Minister, John Baird and Palestinian minster of foreign affairs, Riyad al-Maliki held a joined news conference on Saturday during Baird's visit in the West Bank.
The two spoke about Canada's relationship with the Palestinian Authority and what Baird said was a need to get Israel and the Palestinians back to the negotiations table.
"We obviously believe that both Israel the Palestinian Liberation Organisation should, without preconditions go back to the negotiation table and very pleased that secretary Kerry is engaged personally in this important process," said the Canadian foreign minister.
Palestinian minster of foreign affairs, Riyad al-Maliki expressed his thanks for the Canadian government's continuing assistance.
"The Canadian help and support in previous years were remarkable and made a big difference, especially in the justice sector and the security and in other sectors. We are very much appreciated to that and we are looking forward to the continuous Canadian support," he said.
Earlier Baird met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the 'Mukata' Presidential compound in Ramallah.
Baird is expected to meet next week with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
