We love classic American cars, that much should be pretty obvious to anyone who's paid attention to our channel. Whether it's the mid 50s rides like the "Tri Five Chevy" boys or hot rods built around the 30s Ford roadsters we love enjoy and service them all, but most of what we get to work/play with are the mid to late 60s and early 70s muscle cars and sports cars.
In this video a good friend of the shop and customer has purchased a classic first generation Camaro as his new "toy" car after it has spent a number of years sitting around with no love and attention. Knowing the history of the car and easily able to do the math on the visible parts the car was showing he pulled the trigger picked it up for a great price and it ended up with us for a bit of a "Classic Car Inspection" as well as to handle a couple of the known issues.
Most importantly was the rather terrible transmission fluid leak from the front of the transmission and a fitting on the side, as well as an oil leak, and some pretty impressively bad brakes. Taking things one step at a time we tackle each issue in turn. In this case we also managed to not only fix the squishy brakes issue but improve his stopping performance by a BIG margin. The previous owner had upgraded the front to some SSBC big disc brakes as well as massive rear drums, unfortunately they just didn't work well! Well with some new parts from Jegs and Wilwood we had THAT issue resolved nicely!
Now, time for some cruising and shake down to see what other things this classic first gen Camaro needs to finish off the rest of the summer in style! This Chevy Camaro SS with a stout little 350 SBC under the hood is plenty capable!
