This mission is not without its complications. The journey to the release site is challenging with extreme terrain and weather conditions. The release team must drive with the orang-utans for more than 24 hours, with the last few kilometres of the journey completely off road. The team must then transfer to boats travelling upstream a rapid, fast flowing river with many hours at the end of this trip on foot, carrying heavy orangutan in release cages.
