At the end of January 2013 Mira Omerzel - Mirit went to island of Cyprus - to visit her Greek friends and to get a new bouzouki, as her old instrument was not good enough. The new bouzouki fulfilled her dreams that she had been carrying for a year and a half. When she was exploring the rich cultural heritage of the island in the 2011, she fell in love with the Greek bouzouki - an interesting instrument - a mixture of guitar, tambura, balalaika and mandolin. Bouzouki truly is something special. Under Mirit's fingers it sounds soft and meditative. Greeks couldn't believe it: "Women don't play this male instrument!" How come not? Mirit does! In Greece bouzouki is still a male privilege. They play it very energetically and often quite roughly. Mirit prefers to bring out dreamy melodies, Greek, Arabic, Byzantine, Dalmatian, Russian and Slovene: that is, Oriental and Slavic. And she also improvises. With its velvet and piercing sound she enthralls the audiences at concerts of ensemble Vedun ([ Ссылка ]) and occasionally also the participants of her workshops ([ Ссылка ]). Most Slovenians and neighbouring Croats just love bouzouki. Takis was first to show her how to play it. And Nicos Karaviotis unveiled her some skillfulness of the play. She also listened to other musicians, to sense the essence of playing. The sounds of the new bouzouki are now more beautiful, clearer and even more dreamy. They pierce deeply into soul and heart. A true sound "surgical" tool.
Unfortunately we couldn't publish the video in which Mira and Nicos are playing famous greek melodies. Nowadays most publishers claim the rights for almost all of the popular songs, therefore we would break their "rights" with uploading the video!?
Pod Mirinimi prsti zazveni nežno in meditativno. Mirit ga! Buzuki je v Grčiji še vedno namreč moški privilegij. Nanj igrajo zelo energično in pogosto celo grobo. Večina Slovencev in sosednjih Hrvatov naravnost obožuje buzuki. Prodrejo v globino duše in srca. Pravo zvočno »kirurško« orodje.
Žal videa, v katerem Mira in Nicos igrata znane grške melodije nismo mogli objaviti. Dandanes si večina založb v tujini lasti skoraj vse popularne pesmi, zato bi z videom krišili njihove "pravice"!?
