Here’s a quick tutorial of a really fun [and old] way of home screen-printing. Riso Gocco printing is a self-contained method of screen-printing that was prevalent in Japan in the 70’s and 80’s. Though it’s since fallen out of style, I was able to grab a set off of eBay. In this video you can see me inserting an original ink drawing of a T-Rex fossil, using it to expose a pre-emulsified screen with the flash unit, applying ink to the mesh, and gently pressing the screen against paper to make multiple copies. It makes 6” x 4” prints, and you can use multiple colors at a time. It’s a fun way to do small inexpensive screen-prints from home!
