It was a chilly evening when I got the unexpected message from Takagi Ramen: an invitation to try their two newest creations—the Kimchi Bomb Ramen and the Umami Army Stew Ramen. The descriptions alone sounded like a promise of flavor-packed warmth on a cool night, with each ramen dish crafted to deliver a unique taste journey.
As I stepped into Takagi Ramen, the familiar, cozy ambiance welcomed me. The aroma of rich broth and simmering ingredients filled the air, stirring up excitement for what was to come.
First up was the Kimchi Bomb Ramen, a vibrant bowl brimming with colors and spices. Ignite your taste buds with rich, 12-hour brewed tonkotsu broth, zesty kimchi, and a hint of gochujang for heat, all topped with fresh spring onions. A blend of fermented kimchi and hearty broth, each spoonful had a delightful tang, followed by a satisfying kick that woke up my senses.
Then came the Umami Army Stew Ramen, a fusion masterpiece that merged the best of ramen and Korean army stew. "Umami" Army Stew Ramen:Indulge in a hearty, umami-packed bowl of goodness. This fusion of flavors brings together savory luncheon meat, sausage, cheese, and kimchi in signature tonkotsu broth with handmade Hakata noodles. The broth was rich and savory, with layers of umami that lingered long after each sip.
Just as we finished our ramen, I noticed Mango Mirage Bingsu Drink and Azuki Bliss Bingsu. We ordered both and watched as the Mango Mirage Bingsu Drink arrived first, a refreshing treat with golden mangoes blended into a frosty drink. We took turns sipping, its tropical sweetness adding a lighthearted touch to the evening. Then came the Azuki Bliss Bingsu, topped with a generous helping of red bean paste over fine, snowy ice. Each bite was creamy and sweet, with a hint of nostalgia from the red bean.
Sharing those bingsus felt like sharing a little more of ourselves. The cool sweetness of each bite lingered, like a reminder of this unexpectedly perfect night. Takagi Ramen had brought us together over ramen, but it was the bingsu that left us with a sweet memory to carry forward.
As we finally parted ways, the warmth from the evening—and the promise of more ramen and bingsu nights to come—left me feeling like I’d found more than just a great meal at Takagi Ramen.
