How do we find the area of a semicircle with diameter? How do we find the area of a semicircle with radius? We'll go over both types of problems in today's geometry video lesson. The diameter of a circle is a segment that has both endpoints on the circle and passes through the center, and the radius is half the diameter. With either piece of information, we can calculate the area of a full circle, and then just divide that by 2 to get the area of a semicircle with the same diameter or radius.
Remember, area of a circle is pi*r^2, so just divide that by two for the area of a semicircle! We also touch on the fact that we're actually calculating the area of half-disks, not semicircles. But we usually just call them semicircles anyways.
