I refinished the stock on my Mauser K98k. I used the Miles Gilbert stock refinishing kit. This rifle is a German rifle from WW2, captured by the Russians. I talk about all the steps I took to refinish this rifle: Removing cosmoline (preservative grease) using heat from my BBQ grill, sanding the stock, applying the sealer, applying the oil finish, and final results. I think it looks alot better.
This rifle is marked as BYF 41
When I got this rifle the wood stock was nasty from Cosmoline, the process of removing the cosmoline left it very rough and still a bit sticky. I decided I wasn't going to "live with it" like that, I wanted it to look nice and feel nice in my hands.
