I discuss some ideas for Identifying areas of an Image where the probability of finding objects are higher. These techniques are called Region Proposals. Some of them are:
a. Multi scale saliency
b. Edge Density
c. Color Contrast and
d. Superpixel Straddling
There are many papers on Region Proposals, that use one or the other technique mentioned above. Out of these Selective Search and Edge Boxes stand out in terms of accuracy and time taken for processing.
