Teaching Music?
Students working in pairs could create a melodic composition based on tonic and dominant triads, in the first instance, beginning each phrase on a different note of the triad and developing the melodic line using passing and auxiliary notes. Students can then analyse the melodic writing in a section of a Mozart symphony.
This topic is relevant to, GCSE, AS Level and Higher Music in the areas of history of music, composition, and understanding styles.
