I'll show you step by step how I changed Twist Gate Valves to Quarter Turn Ball Valves, and replace copper pipes to Pex A pipes. There are several tools for this, but this manual PEX A expansion tool is the most economical for a home owner/DIYer.
I've zero professional experience with plumbing, but I thought I'd try this out myself. I made a lot of mistakes along the way and didn't cut them out, they'll serve as a reminder.
The Manual Expansion Tool is expensive, but not if you consider the price to pay a plumber, or to buy the tools necessary to solder or do anything else for plumbing repairs. It's by far the easiest system to work with, it leaves a ton of room for error, it's flexible, reusable and almost dummy proof. I'm not sure if there's a difference in the term Propex and PEX A.
If i had to buy it again, I'd get this one on Amazon ($99):
