CESI Secretary General Klaus Heeger talks with Dubravka Šuica, Vice-President of the European Commission for Democracy and Demography, on the Conference on the Future of Europe and its contribution to the green and digital transitions of Europe.
The European Union has long recognized that achieving far-reaching sustainability requires significant structural, economic, and social changes based on new strategies and tools.
In the EU’s attempts to overcome recent crises and build resilience for future challenges, radical reforms have been put at the core of its strategy, among which the Energy Union, the New Industrial Strategy for Europe, and, of course, the green and digital transitions.
While this fundamental transformation of the core systems of our societies is undoubtedly of central importance, it is essential to detect the potential impacts of these ambitious plans on employment, workers and citizens at large and to ensure that they happen in a socially fair way.
In this frame, CESI organizes a series of conversations with policymakers and experts in the fields of digital and environmental transformation, energy and industrial strategies, and employment policies to encourage the exchange of views and ideas on these issues and discuss how the transitions can succeed without leaving anyone behind.
