Ruth Barrett
Ruth Barrett is an ordained Dianic High Priestess and elder who has taught magical and ritual arts at festivals and conferences across the United States, Canada and Great Britain since 1980. She is author of the critically acclaimed Women’s Rites, Women’s Mysteries: Intuitive Ritual Creation (Llewellyn, 2007). She was honored as recipient of the 1997 LACE award for outstanding contributions in the area of spirituality by the Gay and Lesbian Center in Los Angeles. Ruth is the co-creator of The Spiral Door Women’s Mystery School of Magick and Ritual Arts, and co-founded Temple of Diana, Inc., a national Dianic temple with groves in California, Michigan and Wisconsin.
Ruth is an internationally known fretted-dulcimer recording artist, singer and songwriter, and an award-winning recording artist of original goddess songs. Since 1980, her numerous recordings have been among the pioneering musical works in the Pagan and Goddess Spirituality Movements. She is best known for her original folk music, inspired by folklore, goddess mythology and magic, celebration of nature, and her arrangements of traditional folk music. At the 2011 National Women’s Music Festival, Women in the Arts presented Ruth with the Jane Schliessman Award for outstanding contributions to women’s music.
