PLANE PRESTIGE TAKES A DIVE ON DEBUT FLIGHT
Moscow and in-flight natsot Duration: 1.05"
On a prestigious preview flight, the new Russian passenger airplane, the TU-204, was forced to make an emergency landing when one of its engines failed. Among the 214 passengers on board the Moscow-Sochi flight were the designer of the plane and the president of a Russian airline which wanted to buy the aircraft. They tried hard to ignore the terrible sensations as the plane lurched violently and items were scattered onto the cabin floor before it touched down at its unscheduled stop. The TU-204, with a flight range of 5,000 kilometres and good fuel efficiency, is scheduled to compete on international routes with Boeing and Airbus. The manufacturers have already received orders from Iran and India and were playing down the debut mishap.
