I'm curious in the story so I read the novel because the movie is not available online yet..it was quite good but its about dying and living again like " I want to eat your pancreas" but in this movie there was a girl named Watarase Mamizu who have a disease called "Luminiscence disease " it is a disease when your body absorb light your skin started to glows, the person who have this disease cant live longer and be a adult ,it doesn't have a cure either. Mamizu have zero life expectancy, she didn't afraid to die because it means nothingness for her.For her, she didn't have a purpose in the world but to wait in the hospital room for her death. Then, there was a boy named Okuda Takuya.He met Watarase Mamizu in the hospital to bring letters from his classmates to her.Mamizu musn't go outside so he told takuya to buy her a pocky when he visit her next time. Takuya broke Mamizu precious snow globe ,this snow globe is from his father ,she really treasure it ,because her parents are divorced.
Then, Mamizu told Takuya in exchange of that ,he must do what she wants to do before she dies in her place because she can't go outside.So Takuya agreed . As the time pass, Takuya fall in love in Mamizu but her death is approaching. Mamizu told him to stopped visiting her because it's pointless but takuya didn't listen.
Takuya have a sister named Meiko who died in a car accident ,before his sister died, she have a boyfriend died in a car accident too. Takuya find a poem in his sister's belongings in the book there is a highlighted sentence says "When your love one dies, you must commit suicide ". Takuya can't imagine a world without mamizu so he decide to commit suicide . In front of Mamizu's eye he will jump off in the building he said If he die first takuya will tell Mamizu what will happen and where people go when die,because it is Mamizu's last wish to know "what happens after death".Mamizu stop takuya and said she wanted to live so much because she met him .She loves him. So her last wish change, she wants to know what will happen if you try to live on as for her sake takuya must live on to fulfill her last wish.
