The police investigation led to the arrest of three suspects: Wang Liang, Yang Ning, and Wei Wei, all international students. The suspects confessed to robbing and murdering the family due to financial troubles and a failed robbery attempt. The case concluded with severe punishments for the perpetrators, with Wei Wei ultimately executed in 2019.
