Today I traveled from Colombo to Galle in Sri Lanka. I decided to take the 2nd class train that left Colombo at 10:30am. The fare was surprisingly cheap, costing only a little over a dollar, and I purchased my ticket at the ticket counter just 30 minutes prior to departure.
Unfortunately, there was no 1st class train to Galle in the morning, with the only one leaving after 2pm. This meant that the train was packed, and it was difficult to find an empty seat. However, after a bit of searching, I finally found one and settled in for the journey.
During the trip, I had a pleasant conversation with a Sri Lankan lady who sat next to me. She was very interested in my travels and even gave me a guava as a token of our conversation. It was a refreshing gesture and made the journey even more enjoyable.
As I arrived in Galle, I was greeted by a group of tuk tuk drivers offering me a ride, which is a common sight in many of the countries I've visited in Asia.
Overall, the train ride was a pleasant experience, albeit a bit tiring. It was interesting to see the beautiful scenery and meet new people along the way. I'm grateful for the opportunity to travel and experience different cultures, and I look forward to my next adventure.
