Have you ever thought about museum mounts? Likely not, and that's deliberate. In the case of this centuries-old vanity box, @metmuseum's curators, designers and mount makers worked together to make sure no ugly brace was reflected its mirror as admirers crane their necks to admire the piece, distracting from the aesthetics. Warren Bennett -- conservation preparator at Met Metropolitan Museum of Art's Department of Objects Conservation -- takes Adam Savage through the painstaking mount-making process he pursued so visitors can appreciate the art without interruption while still protecting the artifact.
