Following the Second World War in Italy, there were a number of high ranking executions of Fascist politicians who were good friends with Benito Mussolini the former dictator. One man who remained loyal to Mussolini until the very end was Guido Buffarini Guidi, who became his Minister of Interior, but he was a dedicated fascist and member of his government. Guidi would after Mussolini was ousted from power become one of the former Dictator's most trusted allies, and he followed him in government in the Italian Social Republic.

But Guido Buffarini Guidi realised at the end of the Second World War that his links to Hitler and the Nazis would result in possible execution. He tried to flee, and he was arrested. Mussolini was executed on the side of a road, but Guidi would be taken to trial and he was then sentenced to death for war crimes and was then executed by a firing squad in front of a huge crowd. He was tied strongly to a chair before the firing squad were told to ready.
