London's first BYD eBus BD11s have entered service on route 320. These brand new buses are fully electric. BYD BD11s are route 320's new allocation. They will replace ADL Enviro400s (Es), ADL Enviro400 hybrids (EHs), And Enviro400 MMC hybrids (EHs).
The BD11s currently used on route 320 were built for route 333. Route 320's intended buses (also BD11s) will enter service next year. GoAhead have ordered over 100 BD11s. These will be used on 5 other GoAhead routes, including... Route 101 (Wanstead to Beckton), Route 129 (North Greenwich to Lewisham), Route 321 (New Cross Gate to Foots Cray Tesco), Route 333 (Elephant & Castle to Tooting Broadway), And Superloop route SL4 (Canary Wharf to Grove Park).
Route 320 runs from Catford Bridge Station to Biggin Hill Valley. The route runs via Lewisham Town Hall, Catford Bus Garage, Catford Police Station, Bromley Road, Bromley Town Centre, Bromley South Station, Bromley Common, The Keston Mark, Keston Church, Biggin Hill Airport Passenger Terminal, And Biggin Hill.
Route 320 runs every 12 to 20 minutes. The route is operated by GoAhead Metrobus. Route 320 runs from Orpington (MB) garage. The route is 12 miles (19km) long. A full journey on route 320 takes 40 to 60 minutes.
Route 320 was retained on the 24th of August 2024. At the same time, the peak vehicle requirement was increased. The route now uses 13 buses instead of 12.
Route 320 commenced operation on the 1st of September 1990. The route was previously retained on the 26th of August 2017. Several ADL Enviro400s have recently transferred to Orpington (MB). These include an ADL Enviro400 from 2011. One bus, E162 (SN11BUW), was previously used on routes 37, 57, 131, 200 and 337. Two buses, E121 (LX09FBU) and E122 (LX09FBV), Were previously allocated to routes 345 and 57.
There are currently around 250 BD11s on order for TfL services. Three companies have ordered BD11s so far. These include Arriva London, GoAhead London, And Metroline. These buses are the first batch for GoAhead. It's likely that GoAhead will stop ordering BD11s soon. This is due to their large deal with Wright Bus.
