Baliguian Island
Concepcion, Iloilo
40.5 kilometers off the coast of mainland Concepcion is an island not known to many. It is the farthest island in Concepcion, Iloilo - around 1.5 hours away from the mainland and just about 2 hours away from Cadiz, home of Lakawon island which is already part of Negros Occidental. This island is the beautiful Baliguian Island - a sitio of Brgy. Malangabang.
Due to its proximity and location, only a few tourists dare to visit the place. It is surrounded by open sea so the waves are rough and the weather 80 is unpredictable. Some locals actually discourage to visit the place since it's quite dangerous to visit it especially on raiy season. It's best to visit the place during summer when the sea is often calm (and now is the perfect time to visit!).
Baliguian is virtually flat. It is ringed by a narrow reef and surrounded by deep waters. Upon arrival, you'll notice the clear waters with different hues of blue, the small lagoon near the sandbar and of course the lighthouse which stands on the other end of the island (opposite the sandbar).
How to get to Baliguian Island in Concepcion:
✅ Ride a bus/van bound for Concepcion at the Ceres or Tagbak Terminal in Jaro, Iloilo City
✅ Visit the tourism office
Remember to bring your trash with you when you go back to the mainland. Do not throw them anywhere on the island. 😉
