👉 Learn how to use the Rational Zero Test on Polynomial expression. Rational Zero Test or Rational Root test provide us with a list of all possible real Zeros in polynomial expression. Rational Zero Test can be helpful to find all the real zeros of a polynomial when graphing technology is not used as well as to check our answers to ensure they’re correct. It is important to understand that the rational zero tests only provide possible real zeros and it does include irrational and complex zeros.
The rational zero test is done by listing out the combinations of all the possible factors of the constant term divided by all the possible factors of the leading coefficient. Note that the rational zero test lists all the possible zeros and not the actual zeros. The possible zeros can then be tested using the factor theorem to get the actual zeros. Also, note that the rational zeros test lists only rational zeros and not the irrational and complex zeros.
