So first let me give you a quick overview of what you will learn from this video:
1. I’ll show you how to get access to Pinterest native Analytics tool.
2. Will explain which metrics inside Pinterest native analytics actually matter for you.
3. Will show you how to track your Pinterest success in Google Analytics.
First of all, you need to use a business account on Pinterest, to have access to Pinterest analytics. If you are using a personal account, you can convert it to a business account and in about a week you’ll be able to see your first data in Pinterest analytics.
If you are creating a brand new business account, you need to follow the link (you can write them down, they are very simple to follow).

Once you are in your business account, just click on the Analytics link in the left corner and choose Overview to start with.
Now you heard the word impressions and probably are wondering what does this metric show you.
I warned you Pinterest shows a lot of vanity numbers, this is one of them. Who cares how many times people have seen your PINs on Pinterest? Does the fact of a pin being shown to somebody give you traffic? What really matters, how many clicks these impressions generated. The only reason why you should look the impressions is to make sure that the ratio between the impressions and clicks for your account is not too bad. Because if your pins are generating a lot of impressions but very low clicks, then you will need to work on your pin design better and learn how to create click-worthy pins. I made another video on this channel that teaches you exactly this: how to increase your click-through rate and make pins that generate traffic and not just impressions on Pinterest. I’ll give you a link to that video in the top right corner and in the description below this video.
The other number which definitely know about is this number that you can see on all the profiles. It’s called Pinterest monthly viewers.
It’s actually very confusing why Pinterest calls it monthly viewers, because when I look inside my Pinterest analytics this exact term monthly viewers is not shown anywhere. But instead, the only number that corresponds to the monthly viewers number is called Total Audience.
So, if you ask me if THIS number is also a vanity metric, I’ll tell you it can be in many cases. Because it’s very important to keep in mind that this number actually includes all the pins which were saved by your account.
Let’s read the official definition of the total audience on Pinterest:
Your total audience is defined as the people who have viewed or engaged with all Pins you've saved (both organic and Promoted) as well as any Pins that have been saved from your claimed website.
Meaning, anything that you repined from other accounts, from other websites – everything counts into this number. And if your repins from other account get popular or viral, your monthly viewers might suddenly get high while traffic to your website doesn’t change.
