JACKSON COUNTY, N.C. -- Jackson County's sheriff says mistakes were made at the jail during an inmate's suicide earlier this month.
Sheriff Chip Hall says checks were not made often enough on 38-year-old Steven Ross who was found hanging by a sheet on March 13. Hall says the state requires two checks every hour, but admits that didn't happen with Ross.
Ross had a long history of charges
