Reflecting on the sacrifice and heroism of four fallen firefighters from the West Webster Fire Department. On December 24, 2012, tragedy struck when a gunman ambushed first responders along the Lake Ontario shoreline claiming the lives of two brave firefighters, Mike Chiapperini and Thomasz Kaczowka.
Etched on the granite monument are not only the names of Chiapperini and Kaczowka but also those of David J. Clapp and William C. Bostian, who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the community. This memorial, dedicated on December 22, 2013, stands as a permanent reminder of their heroism and unwavering commitment to helping others.
One year after the tragic ambush, a solemn private candlelight vigil took place at the Lake Road location. Participants included members of the volunteer fire department and emergency services who courageously responded to the scene of the shooting, uniting to commemorate the somber anniversary.
