A new team of police officers is out patrolling the 18b Arts District in downtown Las Vegas. Problem oriented policing or the P.O.P team for short is not a new method of policing, but it is relatively new to the deputy city marshals and it is brand new to the arts district. Earlier this year, the team started on the Fremont Street Experience. Now, their team has expanded to the arts district.
One of the team's goals is to interact with and build relationships with the local businesses, residents, and the homeless community. We rode along with the officers to see how they are going to make DTLV a safer place for everyone in the community to live, work and play.
