The 2021 UCI Law Moot Court Competition finals featured students Aaron Johnson (Petitioner) and Akila Shenoy (Respondent) arguing before The Honorable Kim McLane Wardlaw, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals; The Honorable Robert B. Kugler, U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey; and The Honorable Otis D. Wright II, U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Students argued whether testing a key on an apartment door to ascertain a person’s residence constitutes a Fourth Amendment search requiring probable cause and a warrant.
