The Australian's Judith Sloan says the trouble is it's "a whole lot easier" to close a power plant than to “build replacement power” for Australians.
“That's the trouble, we are having the early exit of coal-fired power plants and we are just not in the position to be replacing those electrons affordably and reliably,” she told Sky News host Paul Murray.
“I think they have got a real pickle on their hands – the $275 is dead, but a 56 per cent increase in electricity prices, that I would've thought was political poison.”
