G3 Alpinist skins come pre-cut to the right length, but need to be trimmed to the correct side cut width. You'll need your skis and the trimming tool that came with your skins.
Start by attaching the tip to the ski. Make sure you adjust the hooks for a secure fit. Remove the backing material and center the skin over the base of the ski. Make sure there are equal amounts hanging over both sides.
With the tip secure, adjust the tail clip to make sure it keeps the skin [inaudible 00:00:38] and smooth.
Slide the trimming tool between the skin and the base of the ski and run it down the length of the edge to trim the side-cut with. Make sure to keep pressure against the side of the ski. Unlike other skin trimming tools, the G3 trimmer is offset, so it fully exposes the metal edge without you having to realign the skin. Repeat the process on the other side. When you're done, you should see only the metal edges exposed.
To recap, attach the skin and adjust the tip hooks. Adjust the tail clip to keep the skin taut. Trim the extra material from both sides of the skin.
