Aquarium Peacock Bass tank care is fairly easy as long as you get a large enough tank for growth. With big fish like peacock bass I advise getting some large budget line canister filters. The Sunsun 404 has been a top seller beast filter for a long time.

This is absolutely ridiculous.. I'm very saddened by this. I saw this at Wal-Mart 350 Walters Rd, Suisun City, California. They are selling these iridescent sharks and advertising that they can be in a 10g tank!!
As a lot of you may know.. They can get over 4ft long! Of course I spoke to management on how they shouldn't be selling them at al but they should at least have something that lets the customer that they can get over 4ft long and require MINIMUM 300g..... Not 10g. Is there anything else I can do for these little guys?? Believe me if I had a massive pond to give them a home I would.
Help!! I have lost 7 fish in the last 2 days. I did a water change Sunday, and fish started dying yesterday. I have mixed tetras and cory cats and such, along with a angle. It's also a lightly planted tank. I've lost 4 cory cats, 2 guppies and a tetra
The temp stays fairly steady 78°f-80°f
The ammonia and nitrite are both 0
The nitrate is somewhere around 10-20
The pH is running high at 8.2
The pH from my water source runs 7.6-7.8 normally. What can I do to keep from losing any more of my fish? The tank is a 150 gallon if that makes a difference. I've been keeping fish for over 6 years and have never had a die off like this. I'm stressed.
Possibly forgot to add prime or whatever you use? (Ive done it regrettably). Maybe water temp difference was a little too much?
How much of a water change did you do? Any physical signs on the bodies that might help with ilness?). I've only forgotten my conditioner once, but that was a while ago.I balance the temp as I add water for that reason, but my tap runs close to tank temp this time of year so it isn't ever a big change. I did about 40g. I found one this morning that seemed to have a little red between his scales, but still no signs of being picked on by another fish (no missing scales or fin nips).
Peacock bass in aquariums are super fun. In my short time being part of the fish hobby: the tank is never big enough, it will never be "done," you will say time after time "no more fish, I'm happy with what I have" but you WILL always get more fish and probably more tanks to hold said more fish and sh*t will happen for no good explainable reason causing you to lose your sh*t. So frustrating yet so satisfying. that guy: YOU DID THIS TO ME.
Finally set up my 10 gallon dwarf puffer fish tank! So far he is friendly towards my shrimps and Cory cats... will he eat the shrimps later? I am feeding him frozen worms and he only eat the meat and then spit out the skin like chewing gum Lol what else should I feed him? He is so tiny and it doesn’t look like he can eat snails yet... he is chilling on the plant like a boss now...
So like, can water changes and a clean tank help the chances of a fish get better? I mean it seems like a cold virus in one way. No cure, and the only way to get through it is by building an immunity to it. So I assume by making the fish as comfortable as you can will increase the odds. Will it? Yeah...it was saddening....You can still try but as I said it’s hard to treat....I had to either bleach or pitch the stuff the shark was in on fear of having other fish contracting it.
Got a new Betta. He's a twin tail delta named Doug. Moved him into the tank and added a few cuttings. The other tank is Chester. I've had him since October. I've moved him around a bit. I swapped him with the ten and moved the dwarf livebearers into that. The tank I was going to put him in leaked so I had to grab an old one. It's one of those aquafarms. They are eating freshly hatched brine shrimp. The place I got Doug from sold them in racks. Doug was really active and peeked my interest. I got one of the racks, but removed the divider. When the guy removed the divider I thought the two might get at eachother before being netted.
So I recently started a 65 gal. Freshwater acquirium. Come to find out that my city water is at 8.4 ph. I've used api down to try and get the ph level down but can only get it down to 7.8. I want to get fish that need 7.0 to 7.4 ph level. I put in two pieces of drift wood in cause I read that that could help lower the ph. Can anybody give me some ideas on how to drop it more? I'm using a fluval canister filtration system for 100 gal.
Sometimes it is more important to keep things regulated rather than ramatically lower the pH only to watch it spike again during changes. Why don't you see what the pH is at your local fish store. Maybe the fish have become acclimated to higher pH if the store has higher pH too? Just a suggestion.
