Former FBI Sirector Robert Mueller has been appointed to oversee the investigation into alleged links between Trump's election campaign team and Russia.
He was credited with rebuilding the FBI's reputation after the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York and Washington. And he once had a showdown with ex-President George W Bush over domestic spying.
Mueller's appointment is being seen as an indication that the investigation is credible.
