Darren Jones, born in 1986 on a Bristol council estate, witnessed the impact of government policies early in life.
He became President of the Students' Union at the University of Plymouth before being a solicitor at BT.
He initially stood to become an MP at 25, whilst unsuccessful initially, he persevered and became the Bristol North West MP in 2017, aged just 30.
In his maiden speech, Jones proudly acknowledged being the first ever Darren elected to Parliament.
In 2020 when Keir Stamer appointed Rachel Reeves, Jones became Chair of the Business Select Committee, one of the biggest jobs in Parliament at just 32 years of age.
He has developed a reputation for holding businesses to account from P&O to Royal Mail and is very much seen as a rising star in Labour ranks.
