Old Coin’s House Sofia present to you old Ottoman coin minted in the 4th year of the reign of sultan Selim III or that is 1792. The material is silver with 465 purity. The diameter is 45mm. and the weight is about 32g. The coin was produced in Constantinople and is an excellent example of Ottoman coin production.
At the end of the 18th century, the Ottoman Empire reached its peak and began to decline. In 1789, Selim III ascended the throne in Constantinople. In his attempts to reform the backward empire, he turned against himself the army and the people, and in 1807 he was overthrown and killed by his cousin Mustafa IV.
