let's talk about finches house finches
purple finches what kind of food do they
like during the winter all these guys
eat a little bit of the same things
they'll find insects where they can
before the hard freezers knock them all
down and and at in the backside of this
winter time when the little buds come
out on on trees little bitty things
they're still tender they'll eat those
rest of the time it's they'll find
spiders and all now and the seeds they
eat there's a lot of them they can the
finches unlike a lot of the other song
birds have a feature of the beak it's a
conical beak like a cardinal therefore
it's more like something that can really
Mash something not inste of a skinny
little beak it's got a a pointed shape
like that and they can get force on
things they can break a lot of seeds
open so they get a chance to get around
the trees and eat seeds that the other a
lot of the other birds can't do so
that's what they mostly feed on in the
winter time is seed seed crops now will
they eat sews cuz I know sew sew cakes
are great in the winter cuz they're real
high fat but will will the venes eat it
yes yes most most of the birds will I've
not seen I don't think I've seen a bird
that wouldn't come to sue it once it
sees the other birds eating they come
there they taste it they they will eat
it especially if it's presented a way
they can get to it yeah uh most times
most SE cakes are in a hangy feeder that
slows some birds down although I think
I've noticed in the last four five six
years that a lot of my birds tend to be
able to handle the SE feeder better yeah
than they used to although I've got SE
it in other places for them there's a
typical sew Feer right there that's
perfect and I love the log doesn't that
have sew in it too the log yes that's
just an old dead log it's still firm
with 1 in one and a half inch Hol
drilled in it and I just push sew it up
in the holes yeah it's got some the
woodpeckers love that and the S birds
will come up and get on it
